The Dr. Stefan B. Forrester Philosophy and Fine Arts Endowed Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Dr. Steve Forrester, University of Montevallo Associate Professor of Philosophy. Dr. Forrester served on the faculty at UM for 16 years prior to his unexpected passing in July 2023. With a dedication to and passion for philosophy and poetry, Dr. Forrester understood that study of the humanities and the arts provides students with the opportunity to experience life fully and ponder life deeply. Remembered for his good humor, kindness, and infectious enthusiasm, Dr. Forrester embodied the ideal educator by challenging his students to become open-minded thinkers and gentler people.
The Dr. Stefan B. Forrester Philosophy and Fine Arts Endowed Scholarship will be awarded annually to deserving juniors or seniors who are studying philosophy, creative writing, art, or instrumental music.
