The role of faculty is to commit to serving as mentor by providing consistent research supervision and assist the McNair scholar is completing a 6 week summer research project.  Faculty mentors are also encouraged to provide advice about how to successfully transition to graduate school.  It is expected that each Faculty Mentor will work with their McNair Scholar during the spring semester to prepare a research proposal for the Undergraduate Research Committee and upon approval, begin final preparation for the summer research internship.

During the summer research internship Faculty Mentors will supervise the Scholars as they conduct research, assist Scholars in preparing their work for publication and presentation, and provide support and motivation for their McNair Scholar to succeed in both their undergraduate and graduate level academic pursuits.
