Scholarships

These scholarships are available to students within the B.S. SLP program. Students may apply for the Alma Graves Scholarship on AwardSpring. All other awards are selected by the CSD faculty and staff and awarded internally.

  • Alma Graves Scholarship Award– Awarded every Spring to a currently enrolled SLP student who has an interest in working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Applications are submitted through AwardSpring.
  • Laura F. Wright Scholarship Award- This award is given to a senior majoring in speech-language pathology whom the faculty elects as demonstrating leadership, dedication, and adherence to high professional standards. A minimum of a 3.5 GPA is required.
  • Mary B. Kirby Scholarship Award– This award is given to a student majoring in Speech-Language Pathology having the highest scholastic record. It was established by William and John C. Kirby in memory of their mother who was a graduate of UM and a Montevallo resident.
  • Staci Lin Rowe Memorial Scholarship- This award is presented to a junior-level student majoring in speech-language pathology who demonstrates outstanding evidence of commitment to the profession and potential for achievement as a speech-language pathologist.

These scholarships are available to students within the M.S. SLP program. Awardees are selected internally and awarded either at admissions or after acceptance unless otherwise noted.

  • Terry Roberson Graduate Honors Scholarship- Candidates meeting all general scholarship criteria (found here) will be considered automatically during the admissions process. Information provided in the application materials submitted to CSDCAS will be used to determine eligibility and selection for this scholarship. This scholarship is awarded at the time of acceptance into the M.S. SLP program.
  • Fetterolf Scholarship Award– This award provides financial assistance to an outstanding and deserving graduate-level student at the University of Montevallo.
  • The Sara Craft Fishman Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Speech-Language Pathology Majors is crucial in assisting upstanding students through financial hurdles that could otherwise interrupt or altogether end their dreams of earning their M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Montevallo. At the heart of The Sara Craft Fishman Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Speech-Language Pathology Majors, students will be selected based on the following criteria:
    • Must have proven financial need
    • Must have been accepted to and completed one semester of coursework in the UM Graduate Speech-Language Pathology program
    • Must have demonstrated the highest standards of service in the field of serving adults with speech-language disabilities

  • Vivian L. Roe Award for Clinical Excellence- This award is given to a 2nd-year graduate clinician who exemplifies excellent ethical adherence during clinical experiences while providing outstanding speech and language services to clients within the clinical setting.
