MD Rahman

Md Mahfuzer Rahman is an assistant professor of computer science at the University of Montevallo. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in May 2021, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

He joined the University of Montevallo in Fall 2021 and is currently teaching Introduction to Computer Science, Algorithm Development & Data Structures, and Operating Systems classes. Md Mahfuzer Rahman researched and developed novel algorithms and models for custom prediction and recommendation tasks addressing data sparsity, cold start, etc., research challenges that cause traditional approaches to fail. Through these works, he enhanced the accuracy and quality of prediction and recommendation results in multiple domains. Also, he ensured a better understanding of user behavior and online discussions and improved memory usage and run-time for an efficient genome assembly process by developing and introducing metrics, algorithms, and models.

His research exploits theoretical and applied aspects of advanced computational techniques and integrates them with interdisciplinary knowledge of social-psychological-behavioral and bioinformatics domains in an optimized fashion. For current and future research works, Md Mahfuzer Rahman is interested in pursuing research in machine learning and social computing domains, including but not limited to the following issues.

  • Contextualized Understanding of User behavior and Interaction for Ethical Computing and Human Wellbeing.
  • Development of Novel Algorithms and Tools utilizing and integrating Advanced Machine Learning and Deep Learning Technologies with Specialized Domains for Efficient Solutions to Research Problems.
  • Research Efforts for Generic Integration of Customized Knowledge and Information in the Advanced Computational Models.
