Dr. Kristen Gilbert is a professor of Psychology in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences and Assistant Provost for Assessment and Accreditation/SACSCOC Liaison at the University of Montevallo.
She is an alumna of the University of Montevallo and holds a Master of Science and a doctorate in experimental psychology from The University of Memphis. Prior to beginning her service at UM in 1998, Gilbert was an assistant professor at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, for three years.
Gilbert’s areas of research include cognitive aging, human factors, training older adults, attention, mental models, and student success. She has publications in various journals including Psychology and Aging, Applied Ergonomics, Journals of Gerontology: Psychological Sciences, Experimental Aging Research, and Human Factors. Her current research efforts are primarily focused on work with undergraduate psychology majors, having completed more than 60 research projects with students throughout her career.
Gilbert teaches Foundations in Psychology, Psychology in Film, Cognitive Psychology, Principles of Learning, Human Factors, Sensation and Perception, and Senior Seminar in the History of Psychology: A Capstone Experience.
